1. Introduction
Jameyya ("we," "our," "us," or "the App") is a mobile application that helps users manage rotating money pools (Jameyya / جمعية), shared chores, and group responsibilities. We are committed to protecting your privacy and handling your data transparently.
This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and what rights you have. By using Jameyya, you agree to this policy.

2. Who We Are
Jameyya is operated by Younis Al Sulaimi, based in the United Arab Emirates. Our app data infrastructure is hosted on a third-party cloud database provider (Supabase).
3. Information We Collect
3.1 Account Information
When you create an account, we collect: email address, display name, phone number (if you sign in via phone OTP), profile photo (optional), and your chosen authentication method (email/password, Apple Sign-In, Google Sign-In, Magic Link, or Phone OTP).
3.2 Group and Pool Data
When you create or join a group or money pool, we store: group/pool names and customization, membership records, rotation schedules, contribution records and statuses, payout schedules, comments, uploaded proof photos, pinned guidelines, holiday and vacation records, and administrative notes (visible only to admins).
3.3 Device and Technical Information
We collect limited technical data to operate the App: device type, OS version, app version, push notification token, time zone and language preferences, crash logs, and error reports.
3.4 Calendar Data (Optional)
If you enable iOS Calendar sync, the App creates events in your device's calendar reflecting your turns and contribution due dates. This data stays on your device — we do not transmit your calendar to our servers.
3.5 Information We Do NOT Collect
- We do not collect, process, or store any payment card data
- We do not handle, transfer, or hold any real money
- We do not access your phone contacts
- We do not access your location
- We do not access your photos library beyond what you explicitly upload
- We do not collect biometric data
- We do not track you across other apps or websites
- We do not sell your data to anyone, ever
4. How We Use Your Information
We use your information solely to:
- Provide and operate Jameyya
- Authenticate you and manage your account
- Enable group and pool functionality
- Send push notifications you've opted into
- Allow group members to see each other's contribution history within their shared groups only
- Sync calendar events to your device (if enabled)
- Improve app performance and fix bugs
- Communicate important updates, security issues, or account matters
- Enforce our Terms of Service and prevent fraud or abuse
- Comply with legal obligations
We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, behavioral analysis, or any purpose beyond operating the App as described.
5. Sharing Your Information
5.1 Within Your Groups
Other members of groups and pools you join can see: your display name and profile photo, your contribution and turn history within that group only, and comments you post in that group.
5.2 Service Providers
We share limited data with trusted infrastructure providers who help us operate the App: Supabase (database and authentication), Apple Push Notification Service (for iOS notifications), Vonage (for SMS-based phone verification, if used), and OAuth providers (Apple, Google) when you sign in via those methods. These providers are contractually bound to protect your data and use it only to provide their services.
5.3 Legal Disclosures
We may disclose your information if required by law, regulation, court order, or legal process, or if necessary to protect the rights, property, or safety of Jameyya, our users, or others.
5.4 Business Transfers
If Jameyya is acquired, merged, or transferred, your data may be part of that transaction. We will notify you and give you choices before any such transfer.
5.5 We Never Sell Your Data
We do not, and will never, sell your personal information to advertisers, data brokers, or any third party.
6. Money Pool Disclaimer
Jameyya is a tracking and coordination tool only.
We do not hold, store, transfer, or facilitate any money. We do not process any payments. We do not act as a financial institution, payment processor, or escrow service. We do not guarantee any contributions or payouts between members. We are not a party to any financial agreement between you and other members.
All actual money transfers between members happen outside the App, directly between the parties involved. You alone are responsible for verifying contributions, confirming payouts, and resolving disputes with other group members.
Jameyya is not a regulated financial service. Always exercise due diligence when participating in money pools and only join groups with people you trust.
7. Data Storage and Security
Your data is stored on Supabase's secure infrastructure, using industry-standard practices including encryption at rest and in transit. All connections use HTTPS/TLS encryption. Passwords are hashed and never stored in plain text. Row-Level Security policies ensure you can only access data from groups you belong to.
If we become aware of a data breach affecting your personal information, we will notify you and relevant authorities within the timeframes required by applicable law.
8. Data Retention
We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we make commercially reasonable efforts to remove your personal data within 30 days, including from backups. Group/pool data may be retained (anonymized where possible) for the integrity of records belonging to other group members. Legal/financial logs may be retained as required by law.

9. Your Rights
Depending on where you live, you have the following rights regarding your personal data:
- Access — Request a copy of the data we hold about you
- Correction — Update or correct inaccurate data
- Deletion — Request that we delete your data
- Portability — Receive your data in a portable format
- Withdrawal of Consent — Revoke any consent you've given
- Objection — Object to certain processing of your data
- Restriction — Request that we limit how we use your data
- Complaint — Lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority

UAE Users
Under the UAE Personal Data Protection Law (Federal Decree-Law No. 45 of 2021), you have the rights detailed above. The UAE Data Office handles complaints.
EU/UK Users
Under GDPR and UK GDPR, you have additional rights to challenge automated decision-making and to lodge a complaint with your supervisory authority.
California Users
Under the CCPA, you may request information about what data we collect and have the right to deletion. We do not sell personal information.
10. Children's Privacy
Jameyya is not intended for users under 13 years old (or the applicable minimum age in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact support@jameyya.com and we will delete it promptly.
11. International Data Transfers
Your data may be stored or processed in countries outside your home country. When we transfer data internationally, we use safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses to protect your data in accordance with applicable laws.
12. Third-Party Links and Services
The App may include links to third-party services (e.g., WhatsApp for sharing invites). We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those services. Review their privacy policies separately.
13. Push Notifications
If you enable push notifications, we send alerts for: upcoming turns and contribution due dates, payment confirmations, new comments and mentions, and group updates. You can disable push notifications anytime in iOS Settings → Notifications → Jameyya.
14. Promo Codes and Promotions
If you redeem a promo code, we record: the code redeemed, the date and time of redemption, and the type of access granted. This data is used only to enforce promo code rules and our terms.
15. Account Deletion
You can delete your Jameyya account at any time via Settings → Account → Delete Account, or by emailing support@jameyya.com. Account deletion is permanent and cannot be undone.
16. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last Updated" date at the top. For material changes, we will notify you via the App and/or email. Your continued use of Jameyya after changes constitutes acceptance.
